nickistre: Looks like Avast Antivirus may have been corrupted or something. Uninstalled it in safe mode and now my system logged in normally.

nickistre: And I found a possible hotfix for the issue, except you apparently can't install hotfixes in safe mode. But I can't log in normally. fail.

nickistre: And my Windows 7 PC is stuck after login, either on the Welcome screen or when it fades to black. Can't log in normally except in safe mode.

nickistre: Apparently, a power surge lasting took out both my PC's power supply and our LUS Fiber battery power supply.

nickistre: Fortunately, had my girlfriend's old power supply available when we were troubleshooting her PC working just fine as replacement.

nickistre: Gaming PC's power supply popped itself loudly to power supply heaven, complete with burnt smell and becoming hot to touch.

nickistre: Sheesh... I just wanted to brush my teeth, not have the hinge on the medicine cabinet break and get smacked in the face by the mirror door.

nickistre: Nearly 80F in the house, and I'm freezing. Looks like this flu is for real and I'll be feverish tonight.

nickistre: Shut it down, then close the netbook, the shutdown is interrupted by suspend. Open and hit the power, the netbook resumes, then shutsdown!

nickistre: Guess some "I'm shutting down" flag was stuck. Saw similar things on our Win 7 netbook...

nickistre: Yay! Desktop seems to be working again! It locked up on shutdown this morning, and Windows 7 was immediately shutting down when it started.

nickistre: Crap... windows 7 is refusing to boot up on my gamihg desktop... :/
