Music Fusion

I had come across this video of a hip-hop and violin combination and thought it was good enough to merit some props. The guy on the violin is rather good, if a bit harsh on the violin. I'm not a huge fan of hip-hop, but it sounded good to my ears:

Unfortunately for him, though, I can't say he's exactly mind-blowing. Not when he had to compete with these four lovely and extremely talented ladies for that title in the world of music fusion:

The group is Bond, and the song they played there is "Duel". Probably the best sample of classical strings and pop music fusion that I've ever heard. If you want to see talent, you should see them cover "Korobushka":

It's not difficult to believe that there's an equivalent in other fields of music to Dragonforce, but thanks to the internet, I am able to witness it.

Genius in Charts and Graphs

You know, these charts and graphs are made of win.

For example:

A picture of me playing my acoustic guitar. The shirt I was wearing says "Help! My dice are trying to kill me!", made by Shamus at Twenty Sided.

UPDATE: I just noticed that Shamus has linked to me. For those unfortunate souls that have decided to follow his link, welcome to my little corner of the web.

Super Mario Brothers Theme on Guitar(s)

Found these on a forum:

First, Zack Kim using hammers-on on two electric guitars:

Next is Jean Baudin playing the theme on on an 11-string bass:

The above two are great, but my personal favorite is Sebastien Gomez playing the Mario theme in classical guitar style:

That's the one I want to learn how to play!

New Guitar

Got an electric guitar from a friend for pretty cheap, so here's my small collection of guitars!

Yeah, both are beginners guitars, though I've had the Yamaha Eterna EF-10 acoustic (top one in the picture) since 1995 and played it on-and-off through-out the years. That acoustic will just not die; It's been dropped, bumped into things, and generally abused and ignored by me, but it always shrugs it off with only the rather rare minor chip here and there. And I've always enjoyed the sound it produces.

The Fender Squier Bullet electric is also a beginner's guitar, and according to Wikipedia, made in 1984 in Japan. It seems to be in very good condition for it to be 23 years old; it was either rarely played or very well taken care of. It is my first electric (and well, only the second guitar that I owned), and still getting used it it. I'm not as comfortable on it as I am with my acoustic, but I feel that way on just about any electric guitar I try out. I'll probably get used to it as I play on it more.
